I purchased my preowned 99Lexus approximately 6 mos. ago. A perfect blend of luxury, comfort and performance for a large sedan. It makes no pretenses for its 290HP, thus fuel consumption is a bit higher than some cars, but I knew that going into the purchase. A very quiet and "trip- worthy" machine, so loaded with features that I discover new ones each week. Ill keep this car a very long time!

  • Excellence Continues - 2000 Lexus LS 400

This is the third Lexus (of four) Ive bought since 1991. The two LS, one each SC and RX have each been tops in reliability, luxury and overall quality. An old friend advised me long ago that the only way to beat the high cost of automobile ownership is to buy a really good car and maintain it forever. Maybe "forever" is a stretch, but the philosophy really pays off with these cars.

  • Finest automobile Ive owned - 1998 Lexus LS 400

I am a senior who has owned many autos in the last sixty-two years. Our last cars, a 1986 Cressida, and a 1997 Avalon I thought excellent. Our Lexus is far and away the best and most luxurious. What a marvelous piece of machinery. For the life of me I cant understand how the engine can be so very strong and so audibly subtle! Simply put were sold!!

  • Absolute Best! - 1998 Lexus LS 400

This is absolutely the best car on the planet to own for the long term! I purchased mine certified for $25K two years ago and I simply love this car. I actually get about 30 MPG highway cruising about 5MPH over the limit. No mechanical problems...none. Took a hit in the rear on a snowy day on I-95 causing $8k of damage, but protected me and my family as advertised and the ABS and vehicle anti-skid worked as promised. Also, Lexus service has been excellent and not too overly expensive like my last Mercedes 560 SEL. My family and friends are surprised to learn that I paid less with a better warranty than they did for their new SUVs, and I get much better mileage to boot. Winner!

  • cup holder still too small !! - 1996 Lexus LS 400

218k now and going strong now im doing the timing belt and water pump by choice because of a small water leak.. all the problems ive had w this car are very typical to any high mileage car such as alternator p steering pump, semi clogged radiator timing belt cost about 900.00 from small shop,so expect twice from a dealer, its a major job... even though i read this motor doesnt self destruct if it breaks. this car is /was one of the most reliable ever with all the comforts of a luxury car. still quiet at all speeds . THIS JUST IN... ive been researching smaller cars for the mpgs and this car beats most of them at 20 to 27 highway

  • Excellent Daily Commuter - 2000 Lexus LS 400
    By -

After 293,000 on still solid 95 Avalon, I bought the only car that I can trust to take me to 400,000+ miles in the next 8 years with the fewest problems, most comfort and best performance. Bought as cream puff at auction, 1 issue. I initially fretted because I had Dunlop sport 4000s and worried about Winter in New England with a 150 mile daily commute and no snow tires. Well, the traction control and VSC complemented the near new tires so well that I never had a problem on the highway and the LS drove like a tank in the city. Im glad I bought this car instead of the RL,Q45 and 01-04 Avalon. Im not wishing I had them. Despite what Id read, the handlings nimble depending on seat position.

  • My dream car - 1996 Lexus LS 400

I purchased a 96 LS 400 a few months ago. I have always wanted one but could not justify a new one at 50K+. I drive a diesel truck and wanted a luxury second car. This car is amazing on the highway. It floats but still handles well. It is a joy to drive and has 144K. I have had it on several 16 hour trips and it felt solid at 90+mph. Almost 15 years old and it feels new. Keep in mind that maintenance is expensive and it needs premium fuel. I plan to keep this 5 years and upgrade to an 05 LS 430 w/ 5 speed and black leather. Every time I drive it I cant believe it is 14 years old. I have driven several newer cars around 30K and this 96 is way more comfortable. Paid under $7K. Love it!!

  • Its True, the BEST Sedan Made - 1999 Lexus LS 400
    By -

Ive owned over 50 cars in my old age and the 99 LS400 is one of the best. I also have a LS430 but find myself driving the LS400 the most. These cars are powerful, quiet, extremely relaxing to drive and get very good gas mileage. With proper maintenance, the LS400 will go 400,000 miles without a problem. Ive owned 21 different Lexus cars and still consider the 1998-2000 year models to be the best.

  • Bullet Proof! - 1996 Lexus LS 400

I bought this car over a year and 1/2 ago with around 130K on it. I test drove different cars at the time, but when I drove the LS400 I was in love. I cant believe how silky smooth it glides down the road. I use Regular gas in it, due to high gas prices, and it has not missed a beat. Sometimes Ill use premium fuel, but it does fine with regular, so why pay more? As far as expenses, its been the cheapest car to own because nothing ever goes wrong with it. Ive only done a front end alignment ($60), a new batter recently ($100), and regular oil changes with tire rotations. The tires do not seem to wear down either. Purchased for less than $6,000! Now in the market for an RX330!
